Come join us at SPORT Fitness Chicago for our Intro to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) fundamentals class! Starting BJJ as a beginner can be an exciting and rewarding journey. As a beginner, your primary focus will be on learning the fundamental techniques of BJJ. These include: Basic positions: Understanding where you need to be on the ground (like guard, mount, and side control) is key to building your foundation. Escape techniques: You'll need to know how to safely and effectively escape from bad positions Submissions: Although you'll be focusing on control early on, it's important to start learning basic submissions, such as the armbar or the rear-naked choke. Drills and Flow: Learning the movements and transitions between positions is crucial. You’ll spend a lot of time drilling these movements and practicing them in flow rolls (light sparring) to build your muscle memory.
